Janssons Frestelse (Swedish gratin with potato and anchovies)

  • 1 can (125 g /5 oz) of anchovies
  • 2 Onions (sliced)
  • 7 potatoes (cut in thin strips)
  • 3 dl (10 fl oz) cream (if you mind the fat of cream, you can mix with milk)
  • 1/2 dl (1.7 fl oz) bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarin

Make layers of potato, onion and fillet of anchovies on a bakeware a couple of times, the top layer will be potato. Pour cream and the sauce of anchovies in the can. Spread breadcrumbs and butter on the top and put in oven 225 °C (437 °F) for an hour.
